The short version
The rest of this page expands on each of these points. By using the Service you confirm that you've read and understood it.
Who can use BigShort
The Service is intended for users 18 years of age or older (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, whichever is greater). The Service is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you are below the age of majority in your jurisdiction, do not use the Service.
By using the Service you represent that you meet this age requirement and that you have the legal capacity to enter into the Terms & Conditions.
No investment advice
BigShort, Inc. is not a registered investment adviser, broker-dealer, financial planner, FINRA member, or commodity trading adviser. We do not manage money, accept discretionary authority, or place trades on your behalf.
Information presented on the platform is provided for informational and educational purposes only. It is not, and should not be construed as:
- An offer or solicitation to buy or sell any security
- A recommendation tailored to your personal financial situation
- Tax, legal, or accounting advice
Before making any investment decision, consult with a licensed financial professional who knows your circumstances.
Trading involves substantial risk
Trading equities, options, and other financial instruments carries a high degree of risk and is not suitable for every investor. Specifically:
- You can lose your entire investment, and with leverage or short positions you can lose more than you invested
- Options can expire worthless
- Markets can gap, halt, or move violently against you with no opportunity to exit
- Past performance — including the founder's track record — does not guarantee future results
- System failures, data delays, and connectivity issues can affect your ability to trade
- Tax treatment of options, short positions, and frequent trading can be complex — wash sales, mark-to-market elections, options assignment timing, and other rules can produce gains or losses that are taxed in unintuitive ways. We do not provide tax advice; consult your accountant.
Only risk capital you can afford to lose entirely. If you don't fully understand the risks of any product you're considering trading, don't trade it.
Short selling — special risks
Short selling carries unique risks beyond ordinary equity trading. Because there is no upper bound on a stock's price, the loss potential on a short position is theoretically unlimited. Short sellers are also exposed to:
- Forced buy-ins by the broker if shares become hard to borrow
- Stock-loan / rebate fees that can be material on hard-to-borrow names
- Dividend obligations — short sellers must pay any dividends declared during the short
- Short-sale restrictions and circuit breakers under Regulation SHO and other rules
- Margin calls and forced liquidation in fast or volatile markets, often without notice
- Short squeezes that can cause rapid, very large losses in a short window
BigShort indicators and signals — including those that flag short-squeeze, manipulation, or other market-structure conditions — are informational outputs of a model. They are not a recommendation to enter, exit, hold, or hedge any position in any direction. They do not account for your account size, risk tolerance, time horizon, tax situation, or borrowing constraints. Manage your own risk.
Backtesting & historical results
Some BigShort indicators reference backtested or historical performance figures. Backtested results have inherent limitations:
- They are calculated with the benefit of hindsight
- They don't reflect the impact of slippage, commissions, taxes, and capital constraints in real trading
- They cannot account for market regime shifts that haven't happened yet
- They can overfit to historical idiosyncrasies that may not repeat
- The 90% win-rate figure cited for the Honey Badger Signal is based on internal backtests; live performance will vary
Past performance is not indicative of future results.
Hypothetical & simulated performance
Specific performance claims
Specific performance claims published on the Service or in marketing — including but not limited to win-rate percentages, success-rate claims, and stated returns associated with Tae Recs, the Honey Badger Signal, or any other indicator, signal, or product feature — reflect the founder's internal accounting based on selected historical periods and methodology. Specifically:
- The basis is not audited by an independent third party.
- Methodology, definitions of "success" or "win," inclusion and exclusion criteria, and timing assumptions can change results materially.
- Past results, even if accurately measured, are not a forecast of future performance.
- Claims such as "100% success rate" associated with Tae Recs reflect closed positions over a defined historical period, exclude open or unresolved positions, and depend on internal definitions that may not match how an individual subscriber would track their own results. Future recommendations may have a very different outcome, including losses.
Algorithmic & model limitations
Indicators, signals, alerts (including the Spodin alert system), and other outputs of the BigShort platform are generated by mathematical models and software. Models can be wrong. Specifically:
- Models can produce false positives, miss signals entirely, and behave unexpectedly when market conditions diverge from the data they were calibrated on.
- Algorithmic outputs can be delayed or fail to fire due to data-feed issues, network latency, infrastructure failures, third-party service disruptions (including SMS, push, and email providers), or bugs.
- BigShort makes no guarantee that any indicator, signal, or alert will function correctly, fire on time, or accurately reflect market conditions.
- BigShort is not responsible for losses arising from reliance on a model output that turned out to be wrong, late, or missing — even if you used the feature correctly.
Founder's track record
On our trading record page we publish brokerage statements and tax returns from BigShort's founder. Those documents are real, and the gains documented were achieved with real capital. They are not a forecast of what you, or any other subscriber, will achieve.
The founder is an experienced trader who built the algorithm and trades it with full understanding of its strengths and limitations. New users will have a learning curve. Some users will lose money even using the platform correctly. That is the nature of trading.
Conflicts of interest & positions
BigShort, its founders, officers, employees, contractors, content partners, and affiliates (collectively, the BigShort Parties) may hold long or short positions, options, or other interests in any security discussed on the Service, in our Discord, or in public commentary by the founder or other team members.
We may buy, sell, hedge, add to, reduce, or close those positions at any time, without notice. Our positions may be different from, opposite to, or larger than what is shown or implied by content on the platform.
You should never assume that the BigShort Parties' personal positions match what an indicator displays, what a Discord post discusses, or what is implied by the tone or recency of commentary. Do not trade on assumptions about what we hold or what we plan to do.
Testimonials
Testimonials shown on the Service reflect the individual experiences of specific subscribers and are not representative of typical results.
Different subscribers will have different results based on their skill, capital, risk tolerance, market conditions, execution discipline, and many other factors outside BigShort's control. Some subscribers will lose money. Your results will vary and may include losses.
Affiliates & paid promotion
Most online discussion of BigShort is from independent, unpaid users posting on their own initiative. BigShort does not currently maintain a large affiliate program.
To the extent BigShort engages content creators, affiliates, marketing partners, or referral programs, those parties may receive compensation tied to sign-ups they generate. Where compensated content discusses BigShort, the creator is contractually required to disclose the relationship in accordance with FTC Endorsement Guides and applicable law.
Tae Jo's own social media posts, Discord commentary, and public statements promoting BigShort are statements by the founder of the company and should be treated as advertising for the Service.
Data accuracy
BigShort relies on third-party data providers, including the consolidated tape (SIP), direct exchange feeds, OPRA, and FINRA. We work hard to deliver accurate, timely data, but we cannot guarantee the completeness or accuracy of any data point.
Data may be delayed, missing, or incorrect for reasons outside our control, including upstream provider outages, exchange halts, and corporate-action adjustments. Verify any critical price or position information through your broker before acting on it.
Community content
The BigShort Discord and any community channels host posts from third parties — other subscribers, moderators, and occasionally the founder. The views expressed there are those of the speakers, not of BigShort, Inc., and are not investment advice. Do not blindly follow trade calls from anyone, including BigShort staff.
Forward-looking statements
The platform, marketing materials, and founder commentary may contain forward-looking statements about markets, sectors, and individual securities. These statements reflect opinions at the time they were made, are subject to change, and are not guarantees. Actual outcomes may differ materially.
Jurisdiction
BigShort is operated in the United States. Some products discussed on the platform may not be available, or may be regulated differently, in your jurisdiction. It is your responsibility to comply with the laws and regulations applicable to you.
Trading & your wellbeing
Trading can be psychologically demanding and, for some people, can become compulsive. If you find that trading is affecting your sleep, mental health, relationships, or financial stability, please take a break and talk to a trusted person or professional.
The U.S. National Council on Problem Gambling operates a confidential helpline at 1-800-GAMBLER, which is appropriate for problematic trading behavior as well. The platform will be here when you're ready to come back.

Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Disclaimer.
